MESSAGE FROM THE CONFERENCE CHAIRS

On behalf of the Organizing Committee and the Society for Civil Structural Health Monitoring, we are delighted to invite you to the 14th International Conference on Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructures (SHMII-14). The Conference represents a forum where experts from around the world discuss the latest advancements and breakthroughs in the field of structural health monitoring (SHM) with focus on intelligent infrastructures. After the previous events in Tokyo (2003), Shenzhen (2005), Vancouver (2007), Zurich (2009), Cancun (2011), Hong Kong (2013), Turin (2015), Brisbane (2017), St. Louis (2019), Porto (2021), Hangzhou (2023), Graz (2025), SHMII-14 will be held in Naples (Italy) on June 29th – July 2nd, 2027.

The SHMII-14 Conference aims at “Reconnecting engineering disciplines”, all the different engineering disciplines and technologies involved in SHM, to develop novel synergistic approaches to SHM, able to exploit the advantages of different technique whose combined application can also overcome the associated limitations. Last but not the least, reconnecting academy, industry and institutions is necessary for the progress of SHM, so the technical and social program will be designed to enhance those interactions and to promote communication exchange and cross-fertilization among researchers and practitioners from all around the world sharing their expert knowledge in the field.

Engineers, researchers, scientists, companies and representatives of Institutions are encouraged to participate to discuss the latest advancements in the fields of Structural Health Monitoring, nondestructive testing and evaluation, smart materials and intelligent structures.

Topics of special interest for SHMII-14 include – but are not limited to – physics-informed machine learning for SHM, transfer learning and population-based SHM, remote sensing, biomimetic SHM. In addition, we warmly encourage submissions on innovative ideas, state-of-the-practice and future trends of smart sensors, advanced sensor networks, signal processing and real-time data management, structural health diagnosis and prognosis, and life-cycle performance assessment for SHM of all types of civil infrastructures, including bridges, dams, tunnels, retaining walls, road and railway infrastructures, high rise buildings, historical structures, and so on.

The venue of the event will be the magnificent Royal Continental Hotel, located at the city center of Naples and offering a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Naples and the historic Castel dell’Ovo.

We are fully committed to make the Conference a professional success for all the delegates. Please save the date and bookmark this website, which will be periodically updated with the latest news about the event.

Looking forward to meeting you in Naples!
